Enlarged Lymph Nodes

Lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped organs that are found throughout the body. They help the body fight infection by filtering lymph fluid and trapping bacteria and other foreign particles. When a person has an infection, the lymph nodes may become enlarged as they try to fight off the infection. Enlarged lymph nodes can be a sign of an infection, cancer, or another health problem.
