Emphysema
Emphysema is a lung disorder that is typically caused by smoking. The condition results in the air sacs in the lungs becoming enlarged and eventually breaking down, preventing the lungs from exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide properly. Symptoms of emphysema include shortness of breath, wheezing, and coughing. There is no cure for emphysema, but treatment options include quitting smoking, using bronchodilators to open the airways, and oxygen therapy.
