Allergy

An allergy is a condition in which the immune system reacts abnormally to substances that are usually harmless. These substances, called allergens, can cause a wide range of symptoms, from a runny nose and itchy eyes to a life-threatening allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis. Some allergies, such as those to peanuts or shellfish, can be fatal.
